Module 12 Intellectual Property Rights

What is there for to rejoice if you have the intellectual property on something? Would it be a great instrument to the economic growth of the country? Or you are just the sole beneficiary of the fruits you have reaped from what you have sowed? Explain.

If you have intellectual property on something, you would surely be happy because of a lot of things. But as for me, having intellectual property on something and considering that it is a fruit of all my hardships I would be happy because of having a physical evidence of an achievement and if fortunate enough may also be a source of fund in the future.   Yes, I think it would be a great instrument to the economic growth of the country and at the same time to you that is already considered as an innovator.  If you have invented something that contributes big help to your country then having intellectual property on the thing you invented is no doubt would be a great instrument to the economic growth of the country. Aside from the practical benefits of the things you claimed you have invented, there are also some indirect benefits like the acknowledgement that you and your country would receive from other countries.  As to the financial aspect, you will only be the sole beneficiary of the fruits you have reaped from what you have sowed if the resources you’ve used in inventing something are all provided by yourself only, but if the invention was of help by an organization or an institution or any group then there would be an appropriate shares of money.

Module 11 Free Speech Issues

1. Facebook’s marketing director, who happens to be Mark Zuckerberg’s sister, proposed last year that banning online anonymity would help curtail cyber-bullying and Internet harassment. Then-Google CEO Eric Schmidt made a similar observation in year 2010, noting that “privacy is incredibly important” but “not the same thing as anonymity.” If banning is already imposed or will be imposed would this stop annoying comments against someone freely posted by an anonymous FB user? Is this ethical? Is this against the freedom of speech? Support your answer.

If banning will be imposed I think this would help lessen but not completely stop annoying comments against someone by an anonymous FB user. There are many fb users who still post annoying comments about someone even though their real identity is revealed.   If someone has really the will of posting annoying comments about anyone then posting annoying comments and at the same time revealing your real identity is really not a hindrance.   I think it’s ethical to banned anonymity when using facebook.  For me this does not contradicts the freedom of speech because you still have the freedom to say anything you want as long as you’ll not violate anyone’s rights.

2.   Is it ethical to blog both awful and pleasant experiences with your ex-girlfriend / ex-boyfriend? Discuss.

I think it’s unethical to blog your experiences with your ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend. Whether it’s about awful or even pleasant experiences for so long that you don’t have the permission of exposing to the World Wide Web your past experiences together with your ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend is very unethical.   But of course who would give you permission to post in your blog information that may cause trouble to them. The information that you might post in your blog may cause trouble to the involved persons or parties.  You might be sued in the future because of the things you’ve posted in your blog, so for safety purposes you should be careful and ask for appropriate permission.

MODULE 10 Social Justice Issues

Is social justice evident in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona? Discuss.

            I think social justice is evident in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona. It is evident in the sense that in spite of his high position in the government he is still being sued for his violations to the laws of our republic. But I hope that social justice would also be evident not only in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona but also to all the violators of our laws especially to those people that hold high positions in the government who abuses their powers for their own sake.  I hope that those people who exert their efforts to expose the truth about the case of Chief Justice Corona are doing what they are doing because they really believed that the accuse had really violated the law and not because of some hidden agenda.  Social justice would really evident if the impeachment is really for the sake of implementation of the law of the republic and not because of some individuals’ personal agenda.

MODULE 9 PRIVATE ISSUES

Talking about privacy, how far would you go for the sake of social justice? Justify.

            For the sake of social justice, I would even expose my own personal privacy, if it is really necessary, in order to exercise fairness of justice. Even if I lose my own privacy I think it would be okay as long as it is for the good cause.  

Module 5 Moral Problems

Today, it is a fact that a lot of Filipino women are into online GOLD digging. You know what it means, right? Suppose one of them is your sister who happens to be your family's breadwinner. What would you do on this matter?

Well, in this matter I think I could really relate a lot. It happens that one my sister is practicing this action.  Honestly, there are really times that I’ve talk to her about this matter and really trying my best not to insult her. I even asked her if this is what she really wants to do and if she’s just okay with this kind of situation. Fortunately, she’s not the breadwinner of our family but what she’s doing really helped us a lot, of course, in the financial aspect.  I don’t know if I’m wrong but based on what she has said about the matter she is just okay with the situation.  I know this kind of practice contradicts to morality and is considered as one of the moral problems present in our society.  I think my sister is happy with what she’s doing and I think she’s has not cause harm or problem to anyone because of  this particular action.  It’s easy to say that I want to tell her to stop but it’s difficult to do when you are really in the situation

Module 8 Computer Abuses

What computer abuse would you like to eradicate? How would you do it?

                The computer abuse that I really like to eradicate is the computer viruses that destroy or cause damages to your computer files.  If I’ll find out someone making such kind of computer abuse , I’ll surely report it to the authorities who are in-charge of such crimes.  But in the meantime, I’ll try my best to prevent these computer viruses from my personal computer using antivirus and I think through this action I’ll contribute a little help to prevent this kind of computer abuse from spreading.

Module 7 Computer Hoax Categories

There are still enormous sources of misinformation on the world wide web, so how can you determine what is good information and what is bad information?

For me to be able to identify what is good information from bad information, whenever I find information from the internet I think I would also  try to find out the same information but from different sources or websites and try to compare the gathered information. If ever I’ll find out significant differences about the information being compared then maybe I’ll consider that particular information that I’ve gathered as bad information and is therefore not reliable.
